Master the Text Tool in Vector Ink: Add, Edit, and Curve Text Along Any Path
Introduction
Typography can make or break a design — and Vector Ink gives you total freedom to create and shape text exactly how you want. In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to add text, create text boxes, and even curve your text perfectly along custom paths.
What You’ll Learn
How to add and move text freely on the canvas.
How to create text boxes for paragraphs or label layouts.
Adjusting font, size, alignment, spacing, and line height.
Converting text to vector paths for custom shapes.
Using the Text on Path feature to curve text around any object.
Adding and Editing Basic Text
Activate the Text Tool from the toolbar.
Tap the Canvas where you want your text to appear.
Type your text, then switch to the Selection Tool to move, rotate, or resize it.
In the Text Properties panel, change font, size, alignment, or spacing.
This works just like standard text placement in other professional design apps — fast, direct, and intuitive.
Working with Text Boxes
Text boxes are perfect for paragraphs, descriptions, or labels that need clean alignment.
Activate the Text Tool, then drag a box on the canvas.
Start typing — your text will automatically wrap within the box.
Adjust the font, size, and alignment in the Text panel.
To control spacing:
Line Height increases distance between lines.
Letter Spacing adjusts space between characters.
Note: Resizing the box changes its bounds, not the font size itself.
Converting Text to Paths
For full vector control, you can convert text into editable paths. This allows you to reshape or combine text with other vector objects using Boolean operations.
Select your text.
Tap Text to Path in the Text panel.
Your text now behaves like any other vector object — scalable, colorable, and editable with the Point Tool.
Curving Text with Text on Path
The Text on Path feature lets you wrap text around any shape, circle, or curve — perfect for logos, badges, or dynamic designs.
Draw a path using the Pen, Shape, or Path Builder tool.
Select the Text Tool → Tap again to open the mini-menu → Choose Text on Path.
Tap the path you want your text to follow.
Enter your text, select a font, and hit Save.
The text will automatically follow the curve of the path. You can still edit the shape — the text stays attached.
Adjust alignment (left, center, right) and spacing from the Text panel for perfect balance.
